Food and Wine... again

So we went to the food and wine festival at Epcot again with Amy, Pedro and Pedro's niece. Kairi did a little bit of fussing... but for the most part she was good. The highlight of the evening was the lamp chops from Australia... YUM YUM!! When we were waiting for fearless Pedro after Mission Space (we all didn't want to go on it for fear that we would die), we were in the gift shop and some little fat girl came up and starting pawing Kairi. Touching her hands, and her head and everything. I was freaking out, cause this kid was really young, maybe like 8 or 9, and just kept touching her. I even said, "Ok, that's enough," but the girl just wouldn't stop. I wanted to escort her away, but wouldn't touch her, cause I would really freak if I was her mom. When the fat girls mother did come by, instead of taking her child away, she was like, "Oh... she loves babies." Dude, don't people have any respect for another's rights to have no germs on their children? So needless to say, Kairi had a baby wipe bath right after the girl went away. Everyone needs to take a little advice from this lady I met a while ago in Magic Kingdom. We were in line at the baby changing station, and she was in front of me about to change her child. She also had her mother with her who was elderly, and the grandmother came right over to Kairi and touched her hands immediately. Then the mother freaked out for me, "MOM! Don't ever just go up and touch someone else's baby..." and then thoroughly apologized to me. I guess it's the downfall of having the most gorgeous baby on earth, everyone wants to touch... And no... I don't think I'm over doing this. I mean, you never know where people's hands have been, and to top it all off, it's cold and flu season. The picture is still an old one from the Halloween party. Kairi sleeping through the best part THE PARADE!

Monorail

Here is a picture of me and Kairi on the Monorail from the Polynesian to Magic Kingdom. She was really alert as you can tell and very interested in her surroundings. You can see one of her fairy wings behind her. She was so adorable in her costume!!

Yankees

Here we are, the NY Yankees. A-Rod is covering my name, but I'm Cano. Kairi was fast asleep being watched by Maureen while Tristan took the picture.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Here is a picture I took of Kairi right before we left for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party on Friday October 20th. You can see the headband and socks that I made for her, they actually came out really good! At the party, everyone kept freaking out about how cute she was. I mean, people were just coming up touching her, and I really hate that, because of the germs and everything. I was getting a little mad. Maureen, Tristan, Bertito, Kairi and I ate at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian before we headed over to the party. The food was really good there! When we were done eating, Titi Susan (Giambi) showed up. I was Cano and Bertito was A Rod. We actually did see a family wearing some other teams jerseys, they stole my idea!!! We did see a random dad in a Jeter jersey and another random dad in a Damon jersey, so almost all of the Yankees were there. The cutest thing was the family we saw dressed up like the Incredibles! I mean the mom, the dad, the boy and the girl all had the Incredibles costumes, it was soooo cute! Kairi slept through most of the evening, but was wide awake and incredibly interested in the fireworks. The parade was my favorite part of the evening. Pooh was dressed up as a bumble bee, Tigger was a skeleton, Piglet was a flower, and Eeyore was a mummy, it was adorable! Tristan was giving 4 armed hugs at Stitch and Maureen had a spider on her face and a witch hat. We are definitely going again next year, but we are looking for ideas to do a theme. I'm thinking the 7 dwarfs or something like that, only there is 6 of us.

More babies!

My friend Breenie had her baby boy yesterday! He's so cute from the pictures I've seen. He was almost full term and a little over 6 pounds. I can't help but selfishly think that if I was still in Maryland, Kairi could have had a play date! I don't know ANYONE with a baby here! It stinks! Plus Mash is having her baby girl soon too, and she would be a good play date for Kairi too! I guess I need to network or something to find other babies her age with decent parents. Oh well, yesterday I went to my celebratory luncheon for the top sales at work. I hate to be such a complainer, but it really sucked! I mean the food was just awful. I mean, you make ALL this money for a company and they want to throw something special for the people who do this, they could have done so much better. They had nothing to drink there but water and ice tea. Nothing else. Not even COKE! How pathetic is that? There was a small salad and the entree was the tiniest piece of chicken I have ever seen in my life with mashed sweet potatoes (ICK!) and like 5 green beans and a couple of thin slices of carrot! The desert was the only decent part. I feel like it was a complete waste to go. Although, Titi Susan watched Kairi, which is good because she will get to know someone else other than me and Bertito and not be scared of other people like some kids we know... Tonight is the Halloween party at Magic Kingdom. Last night, I made a headband for Kairi to match her Tinkerbell costume and I'm going to decorate her socks too. I can't wait to see her all dressed up! How exciting! Me, Bertito and Susan (maybe I can talk Maureen into it to) are going to wear different Yankees jerseys and be the NY Yankees for Halloween! We'll have fun no matter what!

Minnie's House

Here's me and the princess in Minnie Mouse's gazebo in the back yard of her house. She was asleep through this part too as you can tell. I would put the pics up of her meeting Tigger, or Eeyore, or Pooh or Piglet, but I look like complete COW in all of the pics, so, after I'm done editing myself out of all of them, I might put one or two up.

This weekend

One of Bertito's friends at work Tony was nice enough to lend us his digital camera for Kairi's trip to Magic Kingdom. So by the time we got there, I looked in my diaper bag and realized that I left it at home!!!!! I thought Bertito grabbed it and of course he thought that I grabbed it... so do we have bad camera luck or what?! We got to Magic Kingdom and bought a disposable, for like a million dollars, when you can buy the same one anywhere else and it would be like $6. Horrible! I got my cast member discount, but it was still expensive. We decided we were just going to walk around the park, we thought we couldn't get on anything obviously because of Kairi. But Disney has this thing called Parent Swap, or something like that. It's where we go to the back of the ride, I get on the ride while Bertito stays with Kairi, and then he goes while I stay with her. I have wanted to get on Pirates of the Caribbean since they redid it with Johnny Depp, so we went there and I asked the lady at the front of the ride if they did the Parent Swap thing. She said, "NOPE! Cause the baby can go on it. As long as she's bigger than Tinkerbell, she can ride." So... Kairi's first ride she ever went on was Pirates of the Caribbean. I wonder if there's a spot for that in her baby book? hahaha The best part was Kairi was so awake and interested in the ride. She was looking at all of the characters, and following everything with her eyes, when you would think most babies would be scared. After that, we just walked around the park, looking in the stores for anything cute for Kairi and ended up behind Cinderella's castle at the Winnie the Pooh playground. We wheeled her through it in her stroller, but she was asleep the whole time... lol. Across the way from the playground is a Winnie the Pooh ride which is brand new. We knew Kairi was asleep and she was not going to know what was going on, but we decided to take her on it anyways. She did sleep the whole way. Oh well. After that, we went to Toon Town and went through Minnie Mouse's house. She was asleep for that too. Finally we made our way back to the Crystal Palace, and went in to eat. First Kairi took her picture with Piglet, she was a little sleepy for that. Next, she met Eeyore. He kissed her, it was so cute and she was fully awake and very intrigued. Next was Tigger, and then Pooh. She was the most interested in Pooh bear. There is a time when he dances around the restaurant singing with the kids in the place who have a birthday. Kairi loved that. She followed him all around the room with her eyes and actually smiled. SHE LOVES POOH!!! I will have pictures when I get the pictures developed and put on a CD.

Kairi loves Eeyore

So far I think Kairi's favorite Winnie the Pooh character is Eeyore. All of the pictures I have of her where there are Pooh charachters she is always looking at him. Sometimes she even smiles! This Saturday, we are going to Magic Kingdom, and I was able to make reservations to eat lunch at Crystal Palace, which if you don't know is Winnie's the Pooh restaurant in Disney.
Maybe Eeyore will be there! Although I don't think they have a costumed Eeyore... But she will be able to see Tigger, and maybe even Piglet too!

Family Photo

Here is Bertito, Kairi and I at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival during the sunset last week. I am thinking about going again, because it was so much fun. I just have to see if any of the Disney crew would like to go again.
So if you can't tell, I recently dyed my hair. It has blonde highlights. There is this guy at work who yesterday said to me, "So what are we going to do about your hair?" And I look at him like what are you talking about. And he continues, "You aren't going to keep it like that are you? The top is a different color than the bottom." First of all, people who know me know that my biggest pet peeve is when people point out things to you about your physical appearance as if you don't have a mirror. (ex: "Wow! That's a really big zit on your forehead!" or the ever popular "You have really gained a lot of weight!") Why do people constantly need to put other people down in these ways? Is it just to make conversation? Or they don't have anything to say but want to talk to you anyways? Or could they really be that stupid? Or most likely, they are just being bitchy. But could it really be that people really don't think I have a mirror in my house and I depend of their constant comments to let me know what I look like? Perhaps their lives are so miserable that they need to make horrible comments to make other people feel as bad as they do.
One of my first days back to work, there is this older Brazilian man who is NOT gay who said to me, "Welcome back! You need to start losing weight. Get back down to your pre-pregnancy weight and start looking good again." I was so completely shocked and offended that I just stood there for a while. Was there any reason for his comment at all? What straight man in their right mind would tell a woman who just had a baby that? And second of all, I'm NOT fat. I have a flat stomach, which most people who have just had a baby can not say that. The only thing that makes me look big is my boobs! And that has always been. I personally think I should report him for sexual harassment! The point of this post today is to let people know the classic you always heard from your mom is the best advice, "If you don't have something good to say, then don't say it!"

Cabbage Patch Kid

Here is a picture of when Amy came to visit me and Kairi right when she came home for the hospital. I look at these almost 2 month old pictures, and I can NOT believe how much she has grown over such a short period of time. She looks like a little Cabbage Patch Kid in this little dress, that does not even fit her anymore by the way. None of her preemie clothes fit anymore. She is now up to the Newborn size... not quite big enough for the clothes that are 0-3 months. It's amazing how fast time goes, and how big she has gotten... it makes me a little depressed when I think that time is going to keep going faster and faster as she gets older. Time slows for no one. Before I know it Kairi's going to be walking, talking, going to school... and I'll be getting old too the whole time. I can't believe I graduated high school 8 years ago now, and in a few more months, it will be 10 years that I've loved Bertito! My my, where has the time gone?

Ups and Downs

So... we are having bad luck since this weekend. Our digital camera was stolen! I'm so upset about that, because I had it on the front of Kairi's stroller, in the tray right in front of her, and someone took it right off of there right in front of Kairi! If she could only talk. I wish I could say that I misplaced it, or just lost it; but the thing was actually stolen! It's so upsetting because there were some really cute daily updated pictures of Kairi on there, and ADORABLE pictures of Kairi with her cousins Julieanna and Pamela. Not only that, but Kairi has been SUPER fussy for Bertito when I go to work. I think she's actually really missing me, and Bertito gets the brunt of it.
